Prof. Dr. Pim Tonino

Interventional cardiologist, head of department of interventional cardiology, member of the Board of Heart Center, Catharina Hospital, Eindhoven, the Netherlands

Profile

Pim Tonino is an experienced interventional cardiologist. In 2010 he completed his fellowship at the Catharina Hospital and obtained his PhD cum laude (with distinction) at the University of Technology Eindhoven for his thesis based on the ground-breaking FAME-1 study, leading to uptake of Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) measurement during PCI in the clinical guidelines.

Clinically and scientifically Pim Tonino focuses on the central role of physiology in diagnosis prediction and treatment of coronary disorders, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and aortic valve disease. As he continuously shows that innovative technology is essential to further improve health care, he was appointed Professor of ‘Medical Engineering in Interventional Technology’ in 2024.

Pim Tonino is a globally renowned expert in coronary physiology.
